3RD - PARTY DMV DRIVE TEST
***By scheduling a Class C Drive Test appointment with S.O.D.E. Inc., you agree to all these Terms & Conditions***
S.O.D.E., Inc. is contracted by the DMV to conduct Drive Test. We are not the DMV.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, you can do so using the confirmation email or by contacting our office (541) 499-0132 or email our office.
If it is after hours please leave a message or reply to your confirmation email.​
3rd-Party DMV Drive Test Scheduling

We only schedule 3 weeks at a time.
-
You won’t see appointments more than 3 weeks from today.
-
Appointments populate every half hour.
-
If you took your Knowledge Test online, you need to visit the DMV to complete the process before taking your drive test!
-
The locations listed are the only ones currently available.
-
You must be 16 or older to test with no exceptions.
-
It is your responsibility to have all the required paperwork done before your appointment.
-
S.O.D.E., Inc. does not provide drive tests for individuals in the At-Risk-Driver Program. You'll need to contact the DMV.

Drive tests are only offered in English. A few of our examiners use Spanish terminology

Under 18 Years Old:
Edibility:

You must have held your permit for 6 months according to the issue date on the permit, no exceptions.
-
You must bring your Oregon Learner’s Permit to the appointment to provide proof to the examiner that you have held the permit for the required duration.
-
You must bring your Out-of-State Learner’s Permit to the appointment to provide proof to the examiner that you have held the permit for the required duration.​​

You must show the examiner your Learners Permit.
-
No copies of your Learners Permit are allowed.
-
The Temporary DMV-Issued Learners Permit is allowed.​
Minimum Age:
-
Must be at least 16 years old on the day of the test.
-
You cannot test before your 16th birthday.
Learners Permit:
-
Must have held an Oregon Learner’s Permit for at least 6 months according to the issue date on the permit.
-
OR Must have held an Out-of-State Learner’s Permit for at least 6 months according to the issue date on the permit (still required to take the Oregon Permit or Knowledge test).

Must bring the original Oregon Learner’s Permit to the drive test appointment (Or out-of-state permit if applicable)
Out-of-State Learners Permit Requirement:

Customers with Out-of-State Learners Permits must complete the Oregon Knowledge Test and Vision Screening at the Oregon DMV Office prior to scheduling a drive test.

Proof of having held the Out-of-State Learners Permit for at least 6 months according to the issue date on the permit.
Driving Experience Requirement:

If the customer has not completed an ODOT (Oregon Department of Transportation) approved Traffic Safety Education Course, they must have a minimum of 100 hours of supervised driving experience.​
Over 18 Years Old:

Customers must be in good standing with the Oregon DMV.

If you are not eligible at the time of your appointment, you will not be permitted to test and will forfeit both your appointment and the testing fee.​
Identification:

Customers must present Original Photo Identification to the examiner at the time of the appointment.
-
A temporary DMV-issued ID is acceptable.​
Test Failure Policy:
-
A customer can't take more than one test per day. If a customer fails, they can schedule another test as soon as the next day.
-
The test fee only covers one test. You will have to schedule a new appointment.
-
Changing the location of the drive test does not waive this DMV wait time requirement.
Conflict of Interest:
-
Customers may not test with an examiner who has provided them with behind-the-wheel instruction (including private lessons) or classroom training.
-
Customers may not test with an examiner they know personally.
-
It is the customer's responsibility to select an examiner they have NOT had lessons with. If you arrive to your appointment to test with an examiner you took lessons with and the examiner has to decline testing you for this reason, you forfeit your appt and fee.
Driving Privileges:
-
Customers must not have suspended or revoked driving privileges.
Knowledge Test Requirement:
-
Customer must have either a valid Oregon DMV Knowledge Test or hold a valid Oregon Learners Permit at the time of their drive test.​
After Passing a Third Party DMV Drive Test
-
S.O.D.E., Inc. submits the results electronically after the drive test is complete.
-
It can take the DMV 24 hours to process it.
-
The Customer must go to a DMV field office to obtain their license.
-
The test score is kept on file with the DMV for 2 years.
-
The Customer must provide all DMV required documents to the DMV and pay the required fees for licensure.
After Failing a Third Party DMV Drive Test
-

Refund / Cancellation / Rescheduling Policy

If an appointment is cancelled with at least 48 hours notice, a refund minus a $5 processing fee can be issued.
-
If a customer reschedules a test originally priced at $80 to one that costs $70, the difference will not be refunded.
-
​If the Customer completed the scheduled Drive Test, regardless of test score, no refunds will be issued.
-
Test failures do not qualify for a refund or the option to reschedule.
-
To cancel or reschedule, the customer must contact the Office by calling 541-499-0132, emailing office@SouthernOregonDriverEd.com, or texting (541) 537-5467 with a minimum of 48 hours' notice.
-
If the customer reaches the office voicemail, they must leave a message providing at least 48 hours’ notice in order for the cancellation or rescheduling to be valid.
-
If you schedule with less that 48 hours before the appointment start time, it is final and cannot be canceled, rescheduled, or refunded.
-
Arrival at the appointment when it is found that the customer has had previous behind-the-wheel instruction with the examiner they are scheduled to test with.
No Refunds or Reschedule will be issued:
​​The customer will forfeit their drive test appointment and associated fees under the following circumstances:
-
Failure to comply with any of the Drive Test Terms and Conditions upon arrival.
-
Cancellation made less than 48 hours of the scheduled appointment.
-
If the customer arrives at their appointment but does not meet Oregon DMV eligibility standards to take the drive test.
-
Arrival at the appointment when it is found that the customer has had previous behind-the-wheel instruction with the examiner they are scheduled to test with.
-
Being a no-show for the scheduled appointment.
-
Arrival late to the scheduled appointment.
-
Arrival without original photo identification (or, for customers under 18, without an original valid permit). A valid temporary permit issued by the DMV is acceptable.
-
Failing the drive test.
-
Rescheduling from a paid appointment costing $80 to an appointment costing $70, where no refund will be issued for the difference.
No Show:
​​A customer will be considered a "No Show" under any of the following circumstances:
-
Arrives late to their scheduled appointment.
-
Fails to appear for their scheduled appointment.
-
Arrives without original photo identification (customers under 18 must present their valid permit; temporary DMV-issued ID is acceptable).
-
Canceling the appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice.
-
Is ineligible to test for any reason at the time of the appointment (e.g., suspended license, missing documentation, DMV restrictions, etc.).
-
Does not observe the required wait period following a previously failed drive test.
-
Arrives intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
-
In all of the above cases, the customer will forfeit the appointment and the associated test fee.

The Criteria Below MUST Be Met To Use a Personal Vehicle
The examiner will determine if the vehicle meets equipment check requirements. If the vehicle does not qualify, the customer may either use a S.O.D.E., Inc. vehicle (unless the DMV requires a personal vehicle) or forfeit the test fee and appointment.
YOUR vehicle MUST have the following equipment:

Rear License Plate: Must display current registration tags.
-
Brake Lights: Both must be fully functional.
-
Horn: Must be clearly audible from at least 20 feet.
-
Mirrors: Vehicle must have a rearview mirror and a driver’s side view mirror.
-
Passenger Door Handle: Must operate from both the inside and outside.
-
Passenger Seat: Must be securely attached next to the driver’s seat.
-
Seat Belts: Functional seat belts are required for both driver and passenger.
-
Tires: Must be in safe, roadworthy condition.
-
Visibility: No obstructions such as signs, posters, adhesive films, excessive cracks, or anything that impairs visibility for the driver or examiner.

Turn Signals: Must work properly in both the front and rear.

Weather-Related Equipment: The following must be functional when weather conditions require:

Headlights and taillights

Windshield wipers
-
Studded tires or traction devices (if applicable)

Defroster

Customer must provide BOTH:

Valid registration card issued by the DMV

Original registration card required (no copies or pictures) – must bring inside to the appointment

Valid trip permit issued by the DMV

Original permit required – must be displayed on the vehicle

You must bring the original paperwork inside to your appointment. Without it, we cannot conduct the drive test in your vehicle.

Accept either digital (must be accessible during the drive test) or a physical card brought to the appointment.
Additional Info Regarding the Use of a Personal Vehicle
-
There is no charge to use our S.O.D.E. Inc. Vehicle.
-
The vehicle must have both front and rear license plates with current registration tags.
-
We cannot accept a car title or bill of sale; if you do not have the valid registration card for the vehicle, it cannot be used for the drive test.
-
S.O.D.E., Inc. may conduct drive tests for individuals required to use an Ignition Interlock Device (IID), provided the test is taken in the IID-equipped vehicle with valid registration, insurance, and the vehicle passes the equipment checklist.
The following is NOT allowed during the drive test:
Distractions
-
All electronic devices must be turned off during the test, including:
-
Stereos, CB radios, radar detectors, cell phones, televisions, and navigation systems
-
Items on the front dash or rear window ledge must be securely affixed and must not obstruct the driver's view
-
No objects should hang from the rearview mirror that may block visibility

Pets
-
For service animal accommodations, please contact our office in advance.
Contraband
-
The use or presence of open alcohol containers, illegal drugs, or drug paraphernalia is strictly prohibited.
Inclement Weather Conditions Policy:
The decision to cancel due to weather is made by our lead examiner. Because conditions can change quickly (even improving from unsafe to safe), some decisions may be made the same day as your appointment. We’ll do our best to notify you as early as possible.
We will contact you using the phone number provided on your appointment form.

For appointments between 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM: You will be contacted by 4:00 PM the day before.

For appointments between 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM: You will be contacted by 11:00 AM the same day.​

Grievances are formal concerns or complaints raised by clients or customers when they feel dissatisfied with a product, service, or experience. They are addressed through a clear process to ensure fair and timely resolution.
